Tree Selection Guide

We offer a wide selection of trees - Find the Perfect Tree!

Canaan Fircanaan

A relatively new tree for us at Claybrooke, it is a native of the Canaan Valley in West Virginia. Like other true firs, it has short blue green needles and a pleasing, fragrant aroma. It has good needle retention and decorates well, easily accommodating heavier ornaments and lights.

White PineWhite Pine

White pine is a beautiful, graceful tree with long soft blue green foliage. Its branches are best suited for lights and a lighter decorating touch. Needle retention is excellent on this hardy long-lasting Virginia tree.   It was our first species offered at Claybrooke and remains a favorite for many of our patrons!

Douglas Fir (Limited Quantities)Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir is a native of the WesternUnited States where it is a valuable timber tree as well as Christmas tree. While not a true fir, this species has dark green foliage with short needles and a wonderful citrus aroma. It has good needle retention and will easily hold medium weight ornaments.

Leyland Cypress (Limited Quantities)Leyland cypress

This traditional landscape tree, an extremely popular Christmas tree in the lower south east, has a soft texture, with a vivid fresh green coloration. The Leyland Cyprus is exceptionally long-lasting, if well watered. It prefers light-weight decoration.

Norway SpruceNorway Spruce

Norway Spruce is a longtime favorite at our farm with stiff heavy branches, short pointed needles, and a rich deep green color. This vintage tree loves heavier ornaments and is well-suited for a traditional decorating style.  For maximum freshness this is a tree best chosen mid December, giving it a good three weeks for holiday viewing and enjoyment.

Fraser fir (fresh cut)

Fraser fir is a native of the mountains of western North Carolina and the Mount Rogers area of Virginia. It is similar in appearance to its Canaan valley cousin with somewhat shorter needles and that same pleasing fir aroma. It has excellent needle retention and will support heavier ornaments.  We bring these to our farm freshly cut from White Top, Virginia in heights up to 12 feet.

We'd be the first to describe Claybrooke as an "over the river and through the woods" kind of place.
It is our hope that our visitors will continue to travel the distance to see us.
We'll do our best to provide quality products and an enjoyable holiday atmosphere.
We like being in the country and hope you do too
